Senegal’s new PM forms 33-member cabinet
A new 33-member government has been formed in Senegal late Sunday with eight new ministers confirmed.Twenty ministers of the previous cabinet have been returned to their posts.
The new government formed by the Senegalese newly-appointed Prime Minister (himself appointed Sunday evening) includes ten departures namely Benoit Sambou (Youth, Employment and the Promotion of Civic Values minister​​), Ali Haidar (Fisheries and Maritime Affairs minister), Mor Ngom (Environment and Sustainable Development minister),
Others include: Thierno Alassane Sall (Infrastructure and Land Transport minister), Abdou Latif Coulibaly (Good Governance Promotion minister), Pape Diouf (Water and Sanitation minister), Anta Sarr Diacko (Women, Family and Child minister), Abdoul Aziz Mbaye (Culture minister).
Cheikh Bamba Dieye formerly at the helm of the Communications and the Digital Economy department who doubled as outgoing mayor of the city of St Louis resigned in the wake of his defeat in 29 June’s local elections.
Mariama Sarr was returned to the department which she had already occupied replacing Anta Sarr Diacko at the head of the ministry of Women, Family and Childhood.
The seven other new members of the cabinet include Matar Ba (Sport), Faye Mansour (Water and Sanitation), Mansour Elimane Kane (Infrastructures, Land Transport), Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr (Tourism and Air Transport), Mame Mbaye Niang (Youth, Employment and Citizenship Promotion), Viviane Bampassy (Public Service Renewal and Rationalization) and Yaya Abdoul Kane (Post and Telecommunications).
