S/Leone: Senegalese company handed road project

The Senegalese construction firm CSE has formally taken over responsibility of a major trans-West Africa road construction project in Sierra Leone, an official disclosed on Monday.Mr Abdul Aziz Kamara, Director General of the Sierra Leone Road Authority, disclosed that CSE has 36 months to complete the project which will see CSE build several bridges along the Wanji and Moa rivers leading to Bandajuma at the border with Liberia.
The 103 km long road is said to be one of several projects that are part of a regional trans-West Africa road project that was designed to link the sub region from Mauritania to Lagos in Nigeria, said Mr Kamara.
The Sierra Leone-Liberia half costs 69 million euros, he said.
Amadu Gaye, the representative of CSE in Freetown, expressed delight at being involved with the project and promised to fast track implementation.
Normally we have two years to do the bridges and one year for the rest of the road, and Insha Allah [God willing] we will complete it in time, he told reporters over the week end.
